Wilfred Owen’s poem â€Å"Dulce Et Decirum Est† which roughly translated means â€Å"it is sweet and fitting to die for your country† is a poem about the true horrors of being a soldier in the First World War. This poem sums up the how excruciatingly horrific the First World War truly was. This Wilfred Owen poem was written in 1918 and is set during the First World War, at a time when military propaganda encouraged young men aged between 15 and 20 to join the war and fight.
